How it works
Fuel is one of the biggest costs of any European road trip, and prices vary by more than 50 cents per litre between neighbouring countries. Knowing your car’s consumption and the local price lets you budget a trip to the cent — and decide which side of a border to fill up on.
Enter the distance, your car’s consumption and the fuel price — or pick a country to load its current average petrol or diesel price. The calculator returns the litres needed, the total trip cost and your cost per 100 km.
Trip cost formula
Litres = Distance ÷ 100 × Consumption
Cost = Litres × PricePerLitreConsumption is expressed in litres per 100 km, the European standard. Real-world consumption is typically 10–20% above the official figure, especially on motorways.
